Pickup of Entries

Russ Hewitt will pick up all entries at the Springfield Gouge Chippers Monday evening meeting on 29 October 2007.The entries will be returned at the meeting on 19 November 2007. Please contact Russ Hewitt for other arrangements, if necessary, for initial pickup and return.

Subject: 5th Annual Artfolk Gouge Chip Exposition (30 October - 14 November 2007). The Exposition will be held at Engler Block, Branson, MO. The Exposition sponsors are The Springfield Gouge Chippers and Art and Faith Reed. The Exposition director is Russ Hewitt.

Categories: Open to all show participants. Two entries per category. The entries may be juried (if space requires). 1st Place, 2^nd Place, 3^rd Place, and Honorable Mention certificates will be awarded.

Demonstrations at Engler Block during Expo

Please sign up with Chuck Rattenborg or Otis Ramsey for demonstrations during the period of 1 -13 November 2007. I have committed to having a person there for four hours each day. You will have a table and/or stand to use for demonstrations.

Marking of entriesYou must place an entry tag (small blank piece of paper) on the bottom of each piece. One side has your name and the other the category you wish to enter. Tape the entry tag with your name not showing. On the bookmarks attach the pair (string, etc). The string can hold a tag with you name ( do not worry about concealing your name). For my control purposes, I will place a unique number for each entry tag.

Exposition Categories Size as shown and must be capable of being displayed on a table.

Footprint of each item will not exceed one (1)sq ft (144 sq inches). Measured by width x depth.

Footprints can be reduced by using a holder to display the item.

Three dimensional: (open - any GC item where top, sides and inside will be judged; e.g. a box)

Two dimensional: (open - any GC item where only one surface will be judged; e.g. platter, plate, trivet)

Single Coaster/Plate: (GC item not to exceed 6" on a side, only top judged)

Coaster sets: (GC item with at least four coasters. Coaster size 3" to 6". Holder will not be judged.)

Bookmarks: (not to exceed 8" in length and 2" width. Only top judged.)

Small Box: (Width plus length not to exceed 12 inches)

Lettered/Sign Item: (GC Item with at least 12 characters, alpha and/or numerical.)

Colored Accenting: (Any GC with multiple (2 or more) accenting colors.)

Miscellaneous: (GC Item not fitting into any other category.)

Far and Near: Judge will select items to be judged. Items will be judged from a distance of 8-12 feet and this total added to the normal judging results. Equal weight will be given to each distance.
